Start with the decision you actually need to make

Sweden can be a place to build operations, employ people and establish a household. It is also a source country from which business owners consider moving abroad. Those two situations need different analysis. An incoming founder needs to test worldwide taxation and the work done in Sweden; a departing owner needs to test remaining connections, shares and the future role of the Swedish business.

This country guide connects the personal, corporate and practical questions. It does not treat a residence permit, a registered company or an overseas bank account as the entire solution. Begin with the owner’s current residence, the countries in which the team works and the outcomes the proposed change is meant to achieve.

What changed in 2026

Ordinary adult naturalisation now starts from eight years of habitual residence, with new income, knowledge and conduct requirements. Work-permit salary requirements also changed in June. These are current primary-source findings, not proposals copied from an older article.

Tax changes also matter: the 2026 closely held shareholder allowance calculation is different; eligible food VAT fell to 6% from 1 April; and the basic deposit-guarantee limit is SEK 1,150,000 from 1 January. All three can affect a real implementation plan in different ways.

A household move can create Swedish salary reporting or a taxable business presence for a foreign company. A corporate restructuring can change the owner’s dividend or capital-gain position. Compare both levels before acting, and preserve the evidence that explains why the chosen arrangement fits the actual operation.

Our work can cover the analysis and the coordination needed to put the agreed plan into practice. Send the existing structure, intended move, business profit range, countries and timeline through the inquiry form; the team can identify whether the next step should be a defined review or a broader implementation engagement.
