One business, several legal and practical systems
Your business may earn revenue globally while ownership, management and personal residence still sit in the country where it began. Internationalisation can create useful options, but a company, bank account or residence permit only solves part of the problem. The parts need to work together.
We coordinate the analysis and the agreed implementation: understanding the current position, comparing viable arrangements, explaining the recommendation and then putting the selected companies, banking, residence and provider relationships into practice. You can also engage us for a defined component when a complete project is unnecessary.
A working international setup, with the reasoning behind it
- A recommendation that connects the company, owner, operations and practical constraints.
- An agreed implementation plan with workstreams, responsibilities and dependencies.
- Coordination of the selected setup and a handover of continuing responsibilities.
From inquiry to implementation
The analytical design phase has historically taken four to eight weeks. Implementation follows the agreed plan and depends on the authorities and providers involved.
01Initial inquiry & fitBefore a paid engagement
Tijana and the team review your goals, the countries involved and whether relocation or overseas operations are practical. The inquiry can lead to a complete engagement, an individual service, a structure review or a focused paid call.
Documents & evidence
- A short explanation of the goal and existing arrangements.
- Choosing a country before identifying the problem and operational constraints.
02Scope & information gatheringAgreed at the outset
We define the questions, deliverables, responsibilities and fees, then assemble the information needed for the analysis. Information gaps and matters requiring local professional input are identified.
Documents & evidence
- Ownership and operating structure.
- Relevant contracts, financial information and existing advice through the agreed secure process.
- Leaving significant ownership, family or business arrangements out of the initial picture.
03Analysis & strategy designTypically four to eight weeks for the analytical phase
The advisory team evaluates the relevant jurisdictions and mechanisms. Michael reviews and critiques the work. The written reasoning compares alternatives, records dependencies and supports important propositions with sources.
Documents & evidence
- Documented options and recommendation.
- Sources, assumptions and implementation dependencies.
- Mistaking a company tax rate for the combined result or ignoring ongoing costs.
04Presentation & implementation scopeAfter the strategy is approved
Michael presents the strategy. The team confirms the chosen workstreams, sequencing, external providers and practical responsibilities before carrying the plan into effect.
Documents & evidence
- Agreed implementation plan and responsibilities.
- Starting a transaction before its departure-tax, banking or contractual dependencies are resolved.
05Implementation & handoverRoute-specific; confirmed for each workstream
The fulfilment team coordinates the agreed companies, applications, banking and other work. Handover records who will maintain the entities, retain evidence and handle renewals and filings. A separate periodic review can be scoped.
Documents & evidence
- Company and account records as delivered.
- Renewal schedule and agreed ongoing responsibilities.
- Assuming that every future filing or technical review is included without an agreed scope.
When this is a good fit
This is a good fit when your business already operates internationally, or can establish genuine overseas activity, and you want the analysis carried through into implementation.
Why work with Offshore Capitalist
Our advantage is the connection between disciplines: the tax reasoning is considered alongside banking, operations, residence and the owner’s objectives. Michael reviews the strategy; the advisory and fulfilment teams carry their respective workstreams through.
The first branch: will you move?
An owner who intends to stay home presents a different planning problem from an owner who can relocate. If you stay, the structure must account for your continuing personal position and the work you continue to perform there. If you move, departure and arrival planning become additional workstreams.
We also distinguish an existing international business from one that would need to build overseas activity. Establishing meaningful management or operations involves people, responsibility and recurring cost. The best route is the one you can operate, not the most attractive diagram.
What a complete engagement connects
| Workstream | Questions the plan must answer |
|---|---|
| Owners and family | Where will you live, what will you retain, and which personal obligations continue? |
| Companies and operations | Which entity performs each function, signs contracts and employs or engages the people? |
| Management | Who makes material decisions, and what authority needs to change? |
| Tax and reporting | How are income, gains, distributions and cross-border relationships treated in the relevant countries? |
| Banking and payments | Can the proposed entities receive customer money, pay suppliers and explain their activity to providers? |
| Implementation and maintenance | Which steps come first, who completes them, and who handles the continuing work? |
The analysis should be checkable
Our detailed strategy work records the starting circumstances, objectives, challenges, relevant rules, possible solutions and the reasons for the recommendation. Historical reports have often exceeded 100 pages because the analysis examines the interactions and alternatives, not because length is a deliverable in itself.
Important propositions should be traceable to sources and the facts on which they depend. You should be able to understand why an option was rejected and discuss the reasoning with an accountant or lawyer. Where a question requires separately scoped local professional work, that dependency should be visible.
The advisory team develops the analysis. Michael reviews and critiques it, approves the strategy and presents it to the client. The fulfilment team then coordinates the agreed implementation. Strategy consulting is not described as a formal legal opinion.
Turn the recommendation into an implementation plan
Implementation translates each conclusion into an action, a responsible person and a completion condition. A bank application may need the company documents; the company’s activity may need to be settled before provider selection; a departure decision may depend on asset and residence work. These dependencies determine the order.
The scope may cover entities, accounts, residency, contracts, trusts or coordination with management providers. It does not automatically include every item. We agree the relevant workstreams, external roles and handover responsibilities so the project has a defined endpoint.
Evaluate the economics over more than the first year
A credible comparison includes one-time transition costs, recurring provider fees and the owner’s combined position. The apparent saving at company level may change when income is distributed, a shareholder rule applies, or the operational costs are included.
Businesses earning around US$500,000 a year in profit or more are often worth a conversation about substantial international structuring. This is an indicator of the scale that can support a complex project, not an eligibility threshold. Relocation, asset protection or a specific implementation need can justify a different scope.
The fee is quoted for the agreed engagement. Government charges, investments, bank requirements and external provider costs need to be distinguished from our work. We do not publish an all-in number before knowing what the project requires.
The handover matters
The project should leave you with an arrangement you can use: entity and account records, clear provider relationships, implementation decisions and identified continuing responsibilities. Someone must know which renewals, reports and operating records matter.
Annual administration and a technical review of whether the structure still fits are different services. Either can be scoped, but neither should be assumed merely because we helped with the original setup. Material changes in residence, ownership or operations should trigger a fresh discussion.
Scope, cost and the next step
The first inquiry is free. Tijana and the team establish the situation and propose the appropriate engagement. We confirm the deliverables, fee basis, external charges and timing dependencies before you commit. A focused paid call with Michael may be useful when a specific question needs his input.
Describe the countries involved and the outcome you want. We will identify the information needed to make the scope concrete, rather than quote a package that leaves essential work unspecified.
