Before making commitments

Write down where you will live, where you will perform work, who will make company decisions and what ties remain in your existing country. A residence permit is one part of this plan. Your departure date, family move, shareholdings and current employment can affect whether the old country continues to tax you. Avoid paying for an entity or property before checking that it supports both your immigration route and intended activity.

Coordinate the establishment sequence

Confirm the appropriate residence and business categories, then build a document list for the relevant emirate and authority. Passports, family certificates, employment or business evidence and the route-specific investment evidence are common workstreams. Certification, translation, medical screening and Emirates ID steps can create dependencies. Arrange housing and insurance around the application rather than assuming that every stage can be completed remotely.

Make operations work

Account opening requires a credible explanation of transactions and funding. Map currencies, countries, customers, payment processors and signatories before approaching a bank. Establish bookkeeping and corporate-tax responsibilities from the start. If management is meant to move, specify actual authority and records; ceremonial board minutes cannot substitute for the people who make decisions.

Choose the permit that fits the work you will actually do

A remote-work applicant, an employee, a business owner and a property investor should not use the same checklist. Dubai’s current virtual-work service requires evidence of work for an organisation outside the UAE and at least US$3,500 monthly income. Golden residence has separate investment and professional categories; current ICP guidance gives ten-year residence for qualifying real-estate investors. Neither description should be extrapolated to every emirate or every applicant.

Before paying, verify the selected authority’s category, document format and any entry or status-adjustment stage. Prepare passports, consistent civil-status records and required translations or attestations. Family members need their own eligibility and evidence; arranging the principal’s approval does not complete the family move.

Sequence approval, arrival and practical access

Prepare the foreign-country departure analysis while the immigration file is being assembled. After the appropriate entry or status approval, complete required medical, health-insurance and Emirates ID steps. Match the dates on the actual grant to your travel and family plans. GDRFA’s remote-work page publishes a 48-hour service target, but that does not include obtaining all foreign documents, appointments, medical results and bank approval.

For banking, describe why the account belongs in the UAE, who owns the money and which transactions will use it. An investor’s sale proceeds may need the original sale contract, historic ownership and matching bank statements. A new business needs credible contracts and expected payment flows. Keep enough funds in an existing usable account to manage the transition.

Establish the facts that the structure relies on

The first months should create a coherent operating record: actual accommodation, travel history, permitted work, company decisions and the agreed accounting process. If a domestic 90-day residence test is relevant, document the additional permanent-home or employment/business condition; counting ninety days alone is insufficient. If a treaty certificate is needed, work backwards from that treaty’s requirements.

Review any foreign company that you continue to manage. Moving the individual without reviewing board authority and commercial decision-making can move a company’s effective management too. Assign a person to maintain licence renewals, immigration expiry, insurance and tax deadlines. A move is complete when the family and business can function under the intended rules, not merely when the visa appears in an app.
