The activity must stay within the visa

The EDB route is for a long stay by a visitor, retiree or professional working remotely, with the main business and source of income outside Mauritius. It does not authorise entry into the local labour market. Local customers, employees or a new operating company can call for a different permission.

The published permission runs for more than six months up to one year, with an option to renew. Nationality and entry rules must be checked before travel; the official page permits some applicants to apply during an authorised tourist stay. An application does not extend an expiring entry permission by itself.

Prepare the stay and the tax evidence

The official route requires evidence of the intended stay, accommodation and sufficient travel/health insurance. Family applications need their own supporting civil and financial records. The exact age boundary is not established from the reviewed page, so the OP dependent limit is not copied here.

Section 73 B contains special treatment for qualifying remote-work income: local remittances matter, foreign-card expenditure is expressly excluded from remittance and Mauritius-bank deposits require the applicable tax-paid declaration to avoid local income tax. A pre-existing capital balance should be evidenced separately. The visa does not excuse foreign-country tax obligations.

Fees, renewal and changing the plan

The published Premium Visa has no government processing fee. That does not remove accommodation, insurance, document or professional costs. No current overall processing SLA has been verified here; use the actual authority communication when booking a move.

Review renewal before expiry and reassess the category if the business changes. The website’s historic statement that OP applications are free is superseded by the USD 50 fee introduced in December 2025; that OP fee is separate from the Premium Visa’s published free processing.
