Existing residents and accepted employers

Applicants must already hold a QID. The employer nominates through Jusour. Eligible employer categories include Qatar-listed public shareholding companies, regulated banks/financial institutions and insurers, and specified consulting firms serving government or semi-government entities. Acceptance of a nominating company remains case-specific.

Approval and the issued permit

The nomination leads to an application invitation and document verification. The official FAQ describes a self-sponsored five-year permit, renewable subject to continuing eligibility. QID issuance follows approval. A Ministry of Labour work permit remains mandatory for employment, even after moving away from company-sponsored residence.

Family and business consequences

Family sponsorship facilities do not remove relationship-document requirements. Likewise, the permit does not establish that a foreign business is managed outside Qatar or exempt from tax. A senior executive holding authority over international entities should assess those duties alongside the personal move.
