From business evidence to a maintained residence status
The sequence changes with the November 2026 system. Timings distinguish published procedure from document preparation.
01Confirm the filing date and qualifying activityBefore application
Choose the current or November framework from the actual submission date and evidence of real business activity.
Documents & evidence
- Passport
- Business registration and ownership records
- Contracts and activity evidence
- A booked appointment is not a filed application.
- A company registration alone does not prove every residence condition.
02Assemble authenticated documentsPreparation varies by issuing country
Prepare the current checklist and any new system-specific evidence.
Documents & evidence
- Notarised Armenian passport translation
- Required photographs
- Ground-of-residence evidence
- Medical certificate and applicable fee receipt
- Foreign civil records may require authentication.
- Current fees and paper documents may change with the digital transition.
03Submit through the operative systemCurrent guidance: decision within 30 days; preparation excluded
Use the authorised channel and retain proof of a complete filing. Follow any requests for missing information.
Documents & evidence
- Application and attachments
- Submission receipt
- Requested corrections
- The future system includes short correction deadlines.
- Do not treat a statutory decision period as an all-inclusive moving timetable.
04Collect status and complete practical setupAfter approval; follow appointment instructions
Complete identification or biometric steps and align the address, work and tax records with the approved status.
Documents & evidence
- Approval
- Original passport
- Address and tax-registration evidence as applicable
- Residence status does not itself resolve tax residence.
- A future investment or permanent category can have additional criteria.
05Maintain evidence and renewCurrent renewal guidance: at least 30 days before expiry
Keep records of continuing activity, travel and the qualifying ground. Apply the applicable absence and notification provisions.
Documents & evidence
- Updated business evidence
- Permit and travel records
- Renewal file
- The November long-absence notification is not a universal minimum-stay rule.
- A later permanent route may require three of the preceding five years of temporary residence.
Who this route is for
This route concerns genuine entrepreneurial activity supported by the required evidence. It may fit an operating founder or individual entrepreneur. It is not a general permission for any remote employee, a fixed-price passport product or an automatic consequence of opening a company.
Current and future evidence must not be mixed
The current MFA framework recognises business activity as a residence basis. From the main November transition the amended law sets more specific alternatives concerning capital participation, entrepreneur funds or recent activity. The exact branch and applicant type determine which evidence is relevant.
Permanent residence is a different application
The amended ordinary business permanent-residence path generally requires temporary residence in three of the preceding five years. Armenian-origin and specified investment or exceptional cases are separate categories. Do not advertise an ordinary new company as a guaranteed immediate permanent residence.
Budget for the whole file
Current standard temporary residence guidance lists an AMD 105,000 government fee, with nationality-specific reciprocity exceptions. Preparation, translation and business operating costs are additional. The amount and process applicable after the digital transition should be established before payment.
Work, family and taxation
The principal applicant’s status does not automatically determine every family member’s right to reside or work. Each relationship needs its own basis. Business and personal taxes, payroll and the whole-year residence rule must be evaluated independently of the immigration approval.
Common reasons a file needs more work
An inactive entity, incomplete ownership records, inconsistent passport translations or a mismatch between declared and real activity can undermine the application. Keep dated evidence of operations and the exact filing receipt. For a future application, preserve the evidence required by the new rule rather than relying on a pre-reform checklist.
