Your relocation, step by step
Timing depends on the route, document readiness and the receiving authority. The stages below are dependencies, not promised completion dates.
01Confirm the legal routeBefore commitments
A Grenada relocation can follow employment, a suitable residence category or citizenship. The most useful starting point is a family and business plan: who needs a permission, what each person will do, and whether a permanent base or a second option is the objective.
Documents & evidence
- Passports and citizenships
- Family details
- Description of work and income
- Buying property before confirming its immigration relevance
- Treating a visitor permission as work authorisation
02Prepare the application fileBefore filing
Reconcile names and dates across civil records, obtain current criminal-record and financial evidence, and complete the authentication and translation chain required by the receiving authority.
Documents & evidence
- Civil-status records
- Police certificates
- Financial support and employment evidence
- Expired police records
- Inconsistent names or unsupported dependency
03Apply and complete the local handoffWork and residence decisions have separate queues. Obtain the current case-specific estimate before fixing an employment start date.
Submit through the correct channel, respond to questions, and preserve evidence of the application and its conditions. Coordinate travel with the actual entry, appointment and documentation requirements.
Documents & evidence
- Application receipts
- Approval and entry documents
- Local address and registrations
- Assuming a pending application authorises every activity
- Missing a local card or registration deadline
04Maintain status and review the planAfter approval and before each renewal
Record absence limits, renewals and any investment or income condition. Review changes in work, family or residence before they undermine the original basis.
Documents & evidence
- Renewal calendar
- Travel log
- Continuing financial and family evidence
- Letting permission expire
- Confusing immigration residence with tax residence

Choose the right route
A Grenada relocation can follow employment, a suitable residence category or citizenship. The most useful starting point is a family and business plan: who needs a permission, what each person will do, and whether a permanent base or a second option is the objective.
| Route | Who it is for | What needs checking |
|---|---|---|
| Employment | A role with an employer who can support the work-permit process | The Labour authority includes non-nationals and permanent residents in its work-permit guidance; residence alone should not be assumed to authorise work. |
| Permanent residence | A case meeting Home Affairs requirements | The government publishes a separate permanent-residence application. Owning investment property is not itself this approval. |
| Family connection | A genuine family relationship within an available category | Residence, work and citizenship through marriage use different applications and evidence. |
| Citizenship by investment | Applicants seeking citizenship through approved contribution or investment | Assess authorised agents, family eligibility, source of wealth and the actual approved project. |
Employment evidence needs to match the role
The official work-permit material calls for identity, police and qualification evidence and distinguishes applications by role and applicant circumstances. An employer should prepare the job description and supporting business information alongside the applicant’s personal file.
The project calendar should leave room for document authentication and questions about the work being undertaken. Committing to a start date before permission is settled can create avoidable problems for both the employee and the business.
Budget for the whole move
Separate government fees and any required investment from professional work, translations, legalisation, travel, housing deposits and recurring administration. Where a financial threshold is required, ask whether funds are spent, retained, deposited or evidenced as income; those are different commitments.
A family budget should include every applicant, document and renewal. If the move changes where a business is managed or where staff work, include the resulting accounting, payroll and corporate-compliance work before comparing countries.
| Workstream | Prepare before departure | Finish after arrival |
|---|---|---|
| Immigration | Route and family eligibility; authenticated documents; appointment plan | Correct entry status; local registration or card; renewal dates |
| Tax and business | Departure review; income and company map; sequencing of transactions | Local registrations; documented management and work arrangements |
| Family and daily life | Schooling, healthcare, housing and consent documents | Practical access to healthcare, accounts and accommodation |
The questions to resolve before committing
An application should describe the life you will actually lead. Include an overseas company you will manage, a spouse who plans to work, adult children who will remain financially dependent, and extended trips away. These can materially change which route is suitable.
Check that the receiving authority accepts your specific marriage or partnership, adoption and custody documents. Domestic recognition of a relationship and eligibility as an immigration dependant are distinct questions. The route guides give the family conditions verified for that particular permission.
Put the move into practice
We can help connect the immigration route to the departure review, banking, companies and implementation work. The inquiry should include your current residence and citizenship, intended move date, family members, income sources and whether you will keep running a business. Those facts let us scope the work and identify the right local professionals.
