The employer and approved job

The employer requests the work visa on the basis of the competent labour authority’s permission. Royal Oman Police guidance requires an applicant of at least 21 and a profession consistent with that approval. The ordinary visa description uses a two-year validity and multiple entry, but the actual issued permission and employment conditions govern the case.

Work application documents

  • Passport and photographs in the specified format.
  • Labour approval matching the occupation and employer.
  • Medical evidence for the categories and nationalities to which it applies.
  • Professional or regulatory clearance for the relevant occupation.
  • Additional evidence requested by the sponsoring employer or Royal Oman Police.

Who can join the resident

The ordinary joining-relatives service is for spouse and children under 21. The applicant needs a valid passport, the sponsor’s valid residence, evidence of the family relationship and the listed sponsor/employer documents. A relative who falls outside that definition needs an assessed alternative, not a presumption of dependency.

Age, school and renewal planning

For an older child, calculate the age at the relevant application and renewal dates. University attendance or financial dependency should not be assumed to override the under-21 rule. Coordinate school admissions and health arrangements with the residence timetable; a school place is not immigration permission.

Timing and decision

Submission, examination and visa issuance are separate stages. The short online-service duration displayed on Gov.om is not a guaranteed total immigration processing time. Allow for document checks, any medical requirement and the employer’s labour-permission step.

After arrival

Complete resident identity formalities and arrange banking, insurance or health access and the actual home address. Family residence should not be treated as an unrestricted licence to work: the appropriate employment permission still needs to be arranged.
