Eligibility & suitability
Who can qualify
- Applicants able to supply the identity and maintenance evidence and fulfil a permitted immigration-guarantee commitment.
- Family members who separately meet the applicable accompanying-family requirements.
Restrictions & unsuitable cases
- Applicants unable to complete and report the guarantee within the prescribed post-entry window.
- Applicants substituting a nonqualifying account, leased villa or informal property arrangement for the specified commitment.
Application process & timeline
The initial visa and the later guarantee report are separate. The national page’s four-working-day target begins after visa payment; it is not the complete setup period.
01Choose and pre-check the guaranteeBefore application and asset commitment.
Assess whether the state-owned-bank account or apartment route is feasible. Confirm the exact title/account evidence and how it will be obtained within the post-entry period. Resolve the intended work or other activity separately.
Documents & evidence
- Asset/account plan
- Funds history
- Choosing a property based only on an agent’s brochure
02Prepare and apply onlinePreparation varies; the route is described as sponsor-free.
Create the appropriate e-Visa account and upload the identity, financial, CV and travel documents with the commitment declaration. The official page contains a generic sponsor instruction despite stating no sponsor is needed; use the live E33 workflow and obtain clarification if it requests one.
Documents & evidence
- Passport
- Photo
- Bank records
- Commitment
- Following an unrelated sponsored-visa workflow
03Pay and await assessmentPublished visa target: four working days after payment.
Use the official billing process and retain the receipt. Assessment includes completeness, payment verification, profiling and approval. A request for corrections or an adverse determination may affect the project; the fee is not an approval guarantee.
Documents & evidence
- Billing code
- Receipt
- Application record
- Confusing the service target with a contractual guarantee
04Enter within visa validityVisa-use window: ninety days from issuance under the published page.
Check the actual grant before travel. The page describes electronic limited-stay and re-entry permissions issuing after admission. Verify their dates and details and retain the electronic records for the guarantee report.
Documents & evidence
- Visa
- Admission record
- ITAS
- Reading the five-year stay as a five-year period to first enter
05Fulfil and report the guaranteeWithin the prescribed ninety-day post-entry/issuance period.
Complete the qualifying deposit or property ownership and submit the required proof to the issuing immigration office. Obtain a reporting receipt. Coordinate funds transfers and document production early enough to resolve discrepancies.
Documents & evidence
- Ownership/balance evidence
- Commitment
- ITAS
- Reporting receipt
- Leaving account opening until the end of the deadline
06Maintain and extend lawfullyThroughout the stay and before permission expires.
Maintain the required guarantee, report relevant activity changes and follow extension rules. Reassess tax residence from actual residence, days and intention, and preserve evidence of the foreign business income and local work undertaken.
Documents & evidence
- Updated guarantee evidence
- Travel and tax records
- Assuming the visa creates a tax holiday

Tax and common difficulties
DGT describes worldwide taxation for resident foreigners and residence tests that can include intention to stay. The permit therefore is not a tax holiday. Source-of-funds inconsistencies, an unsuitable property title, delayed account opening and confusing approval with completed reporting are issues to resolve in advance. Review the business and old-country departure together with the application.
Qualification and the immigration guarantee
The current national E33 page describes a sponsor-free second-home route with an immigration guarantee. The applicant commits either to holding at least US$130,000 or equivalent in an account in their own name at a state-owned bank or to purchasing an Indonesian apartment worth at least US$1 million or equivalent. A villa lease or a deposit with an unrelated private bank should not be treated as automatically equivalent.
The immigration page requires fulfilment and reporting of the commitment within ninety days after entry/limited-stay issuance. Confirm the controlling date in the issued permission and office instructions because the page describes both reference points. The guarantee must be maintained during the stay. This is therefore a banking or property project as well as an online application: map account opening, source-of-funds review and title diligence before choosing it.
Validity, permitted activity and government charges
The national page describes an initial stay of up to five years, extendable subject to an overall ten-year limit under this category, and online extension. It lists IDR13 million of government charges for the five-year option, separate from the financial guarantee. It also distinguishes a ninety-day visa-use window from the longer stay authorised after admission.
E33 does not give an unlimited permission to undertake any economic activity. The page describes additional work, education or other activity through reporting the multiple activity to the issuing immigration office. Obtain confirmation of the particular activity and any other labour, business or sector permission before working. A permission to reside is not permission to ignore business licensing.
Planning the property or banking decision
The US-dollar thresholds are not a forecast of resale value or currency stability. For the account route, ask whether the bank can onboard the applicant, receive the funds and provide the exact certificate needed by immigration. For the apartment route, obtain independent advice on the form of title available to the buyer and whether the specific asset meets the immigration test.
Allow separately for transfer and currency costs, bank charges, property transaction expenses, translations, professional support and health cover. The published visa-processing target does not include all of these tasks. Do not move the family first and discover near the reporting deadline that the intended asset cannot be documented.
