Decide what you will actually do
Write down whether you will be employed locally, run an Andorran business, work remotely under an approved route or live without local gainful activity. Choose the immigration category from those facts. A nonworking card should not be used as a substitute for permission to work.
Build the household file
Prepare passports, birth/marriage records, custody evidence, criminal certificates and the relevant legalisations/translations. Family reunification does not treat every financially dependent adult as a child; age and legal relationship determine the available route.
Budget in separate columns
Separate capital that remains invested, nonrefundable state payments, property transaction costs, professional work and annual living/compliance expenses. For a new ordinary nonworking application, Law 2/2026 changes both the investment amount and the nature of the state payment.
Arrange housing and schooling together
The home must support the relevant immigration file, but it also has to work for daily life. Compare the winter road, parking, daylight and school commute. The three education systems differ in language and curriculum, so school availability should precede the final housing decision.
Coordinate the tax transition
Record travel days and the date on which the home, work and family change. Have the departure-country review cover retained property, company shares and deferred income. Andorra’s economic-interest test can matter even where a simple day count looks comfortable.
Set up health coverage, payroll and banking
An insured employee’s CASS registration differs from the private cover required by certain nonworking routes. A bank needs a coherent explanation of wealth, income and anticipated transfers. Do not schedule an irreversible property payment before the bank and transaction process are ready.
Run a first-year calendar
Track the permission’s expiry, required physical presence, investment completion deadline where applicable, tax filing and company/payroll obligations. The statutory investment-completion period for the ordinary nonworking route is not an estimate of immigration processing time.
