Eligibility & suitability

Who can qualify

  • Adult applicants meeting current investment, disclosure, due-diligence and family requirements

Restrictions & unsuitable cases

  • Relatives outside the defined dependant categories
  • Applicants unable to establish lawful funds or full disclosure
  • Unapproved investment arrangements

Application process & timeline

Use a licensed authorised agent. The public FAQ has an older approximate ninety-day acceptance-to-processing indication and outdated prices; a current operational estimate needs confirmation. No overall completion deadline is promised here.

01Screen the applicant and qualifying familyBefore choosing the financial route+

Confirm adult principal eligibility, nationality and background position and each family member’s age, relationship and support. Identify whether the objective is residence in Saint Lucia, family nationality or specific travel access.

Documents & evidence

  • Passports
  • Family and dependency evidence
  • Background/visa history
Common complications
  • Expecting current UK visa-free access from a Saint Lucian passport

02Choose an approved option and prepare a full budgetBefore paying into a project or bond arrangement+

Compare the NEF contribution, five-year non-interest-bearing bond, approved property and approved enterprise options. Separate capital from processing, due diligence, administration and professional costs. Check the current price page rather than the stale FAQ prices.

Documents & evidence

  • Route and project terms
  • Family fee calculation
  • Source-of-funds outline
Common complications
  • Comparing USD 240,000 contribution with USD 300,000 bonds as if both were fees

03Complete forms and supporting evidencePreparation depends on issuing authorities+

Use SL1 and the principal/dependant, photo/signature and investment forms. Gather civil, identity, medical, police and financial evidence in the required format. The authorised agent should resolve inconsistencies before filing.

Documents & evidence

  • SL checklist and forms
  • Civil and background records
  • Medical evidence
  • Funds trail
Common complications
  • Missing dependency proof for an adult child or parent

04Submit, pay initial fees and complete assessmentGovernment due diligence and requests vary+

The agent submits the file with non-refundable processing and due-diligence fees. Complete principal interview/identity verification and any additional current requirements. The Board can approve, deny or delay for cause.

Documents & evidence

  • Submission acknowledgement
  • Fee receipts
  • Interview/request responses
Common complications
  • Treating fee payment as assurance of approval

05Complete investment and oath after approvalFollow the approval letter’s conditions and deadlines+

Make the approved qualifying contribution or investment and the relevant administration payments. Complete the oath documentation. Check that the investment evidence and applicant identity match the approval.

Documents & evidence

  • Approval letter
  • Investment/payment confirmation
  • Oath documents
Common complications
  • Funding an unapproved substitute project

06Obtain citizenship and passport documents and maintain the investmentIssuance is a subsequent stage; bonds held for five years+

Retain citizenship and passport records and the investment agreement. Calendar bond or property holding restrictions and document renewal. A citizenship grant does not end foreign tax residence or create European/UK residence rights.

Documents & evidence

  • Citizenship documentation
  • Passport application
  • Holding-period records
Common complications
  • Early redemption or sale without checking programme consequences

Current published investment choices

The main investment page lists USD 240,000 for the National Economic Fund for a main applicant and up to three qualifying dependants. It lists government bonds at USD 300,000 plus a USD 50,000 non-refundable administration fee, with a five-year holding period and no interest. Approved real estate is listed at USD 300,000 plus applicable fees.

The official FAQ still contains older, lower amounts. The current investment page and operative gazette should be used to resolve the price before any payment. Approved enterprise alternatives have distinct investment and administration structures that require a project-specific calculation.

Eligibility and family

The principal applicant must be at least 18, meet the qualifying investment, pass due diligence and provide full disclosure. The family definitions cover specified spouses, children, parents and other dependants under age, dependency and other conditions. A relative’s inclusion is not automatic.

The published current schedule lists USD 2,000 application processing for the main applicant and USD 1,000 for each dependant; due diligence is USD 8,000 for the main applicant and USD 5,000 for the applicable older dependants. Interview, administration, passport and professional costs must also be checked.

Timing and maintenance

The FAQ gives an approximate ninety-day processing indication from acceptance, but its outdated prices mean the current operational estimate should be reconfirmed. No fixed overall timeline is promised here. Document preparation, questions, payment, oath and passport steps are additional.

Confirm current presence, biometric and passport-renewal rules at filing. For bonds and property, holding and disposal conditions matter independently of citizenship. Do not assume an early redemption or sale is permitted.

Travel and tax implications

Saint Lucian citizens now require a UK visa; Schengen visitor access is not European residence. Citizenship does not itself change tax residence elsewhere. We can help compare the complete family outcome and coordinate the agreed work while keeping investment risk and immigration eligibility distinct.

Compare irrecoverable cost with tied-up capital

The NEF amount is a non-refundable contribution. The National Action Bond is USD 300,000 of non-interest-bearing capital held in the applicant’s name for five years plus USD 50,000 non-refundable administration. Those are different economic exposures: a bond ties up more capital and creates opportunity and sovereign risk even though it is intended to be redeemed under its terms.

Approved real estate starts at USD 300,000 with administration from USD 30,000 for a single applicant or USD 45,000 for a couple, plus dependant charges. The current site also lists enterprise alternatives, including a USD 250,000 option for a principal and up to three dependants with separate administration. Only a specifically approved project and structure should be costed.

Family inclusion and later additions

The FAQ identifies a spouse, children through twenty-one, fully supported children through thirty, qualifying disabled dependants, financially supported parents above fifty-five and certain unmarried siblings below eighteen with consent. Each relationship and dependency condition must be proved; a relative outside the definition needs a different basis.

The current investment page separately quotes later additions: USD 5,000 for a newborn twelve months or younger, USD 35,000 for a citizen’s spouse and USD 25,000 for another qualifying dependant, before applicable charges. A future-family plan should compare original inclusion with a later application rather than assume the original fee covers every future relative.

Forms, interviews and the limits of public timing claims

The programme provides SL1 checklist, principal and dependant applications, photograph/signature and investment forms, together with the oath documents. The current investment page describes interview and identity verification for the principal applicant. Use the agent’s current formal requirements if a later instruction changes who must participate.

The older FAQ’s approximately ninety-day indication starts at acceptance, while the same FAQ displays superseded investment prices. It cannot support a guaranteed contemporary delivery date. Ask the authorised agent to separate document preparation, complete-file acceptance, due diligence, approved investment, oath, citizenship and passport issuance.
